Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) will launch the first vaccine that prevents cervical cancer and cancerous lesions on Wednesday. According to the specialists, the vaccine is 98% effective if it is made by female persons aged 9-13 years before the first sexual contact. The HPV vaccine will be available in all Medicover medical centers starting this month.

Women who have never had this virus should get their vaccine in three doses, after the first dose taking one to two and six months respectively. Cervical cancer is the only type of cancer that is sexually transmitted through infection with a virus. Cervical neoplasm is one of the main causes of death in women, occupying second place in frequency, first being breast cancer.
