Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful periods in a woman's life. However, the less pleasant effects of pregnancy, such as constipation, in this case, amaze this unpleasant joy. Many women suffer from constipation during pregnancy, a study even reporting that a quarter of their number suffers from the effects of this condition. Constipation due to reduced consumption of food and water

Constipation due to hormonal changes

Hormonal changes that occur in your body, later in pregnancy, can relax certain muscles, including those that help transfer food along the digestive tract. This can prevent certain foods from moving inside the intestines, especially if you do not consume enough fiber and water.

Unfortunately, many of the remedies at pharmacies contain artificial sweeteners and other harmful substances and that is why we should avoid them.

Constipation due to the type of food consumed

It is very important to understand that foods such as pasta, bread, cakes and pastries have lost much of their natural fiber. Just like when you remove the shell of an apple, you remove much of what is good and continue to feel hungry. These products cause constipation, absorbing every liquid you drink and creating a substance that leads to the strengthening of the intestines.

Constipation caused by iron supplements

Iron supplements are a common cause of constipation during pregnancy. The normal supplements that contain this mineral, are not absorbed well in the digestion and thus, very little iron reaches the blood. A large amount remains in the intestines. The remaining iron binds with other undigested food residues and moves hard in the intestines.

Iron supplements are not recommended as long as a proper diet is followed by the future mother. If, however, you cannot assimilate iron from foods, you can use some herbal extracts. The mineral is obtained by consuming green vegetables or meat. The advice of your doctor or even a nutritionist can best guide you in this case.

The optimal solution to prevent pregnancy constipation? Changing your diet!

Problems caused by a poor diet are very easy to prevent. You probably hear advice from friends or relatives about what is best or healthy to eat. Whether you are a vegetarian or you also eat meat, your daily diet should include:

• A significant amount of protein;
• At least a few cups of green vegetables;
• How many green vegetables;
• Fruit;
• Calcium from milk;
• Monounsaturated fats such as avocado, olive oil, nuts or walnut oil.

The number of calories should be around 2600 for both a pregnant woman and a breastfeeding woman. If you take care to include the foods mentioned above, you will be able to prevent constipation. A specialist doctor should always be your priority if you feel overwhelmed by certain symptoms during pregnancy.
