The body is one of the most common respiratory diseases of viral nature in children. It has the highest incidence in the autumn and winter seasons. The symptoms of croup are similar to those of colds and flu, but they are differentiated by coughing latrines, hoarseness and difficulty breathing. In general, it is a mild affection, which passes in a few days. Learn to recognize the body and take appropriate therapeutic measures to speed up the recovery process of the child!

The causes of croup in children

The body is a condition of the upper respiratory tract. It is caused by a viral infection, especially with parainfluenza (cough virus).

The virus is transmitted from one child to another by air or by touching the infected objects or surfaces and subsequent packing of the hand in the mouth, nose or eyes. The infection initially manifests in the nasal membranes, spreads to the larynx and then progresses to the trachea.

Children between 6 months and 3 years are more prone to croup, but the peak incidence of the disease occurs between 18 and 24 months.

The infection causes the trachea to swell, the airway is tight, and the child has difficulty breathing.

Symptoms of croup in children

The body manifests itself, in the beginning phase, through symptoms similar to a common respiratory virus. As the infection progresses, the manifestations become more intense and specific. Among the most important symptoms of croup in children are:

  • coughing and shivering;
  • wheezing breathing (especially during the inspiratory phase);
  • ragged voice (dysphonia);
  • breathing difficulties.

Fever and gout are manifestations not specific to the body, but which can occur in more severe cases. Symptoms of croup worsen during the night (especially cough).

Treatment of croup in children

The body does not belong to the category of serious illnesses and does not require hospitalization except in cases where the child has great difficulty breathing alone.

The treatment is outpatient (home care), and the medication recommended by the pediatrician is aimed at improving the symptoms and ensuring increased comfort. Intense hydration and bed rest are two mandatory measures in the therapeutic process.

In medium or severe cases, doctors may recommend steroid or epinephrine to reduce inflammation in the upper respiratory tract. Acetaminophen can be used to reduce fever, if the child manifests this symptom.

The humidifier or steam baths are effective for reducing laryngeal inflammation, improving respiration and improving coughing.

Your attitude towards the symptoms, sometimes aggressive, of the body is essential for the recovery of the child. Try to keep your calm and find your resources to calm the baby during severe coughing attacks. If the little one sees that you are impatient and worried, his condition will worsen.

As with colds, flu or other types of viral infections, the body can be prevented by strictly adhering to the rules of hand hygiene and by keeping the distance from people who cough or show symptoms associated with the cold.

    "My hut is on the edge, my office is in the center!" It was a quiet St. Bartholomew's night. The student does not know in two cases: either he has not passed it yet, or has already passed it.
